Squirrel Removal
in Toronto.

Squirrel removal in Toronto: signs of squirrels in the attic, how one-way doors and entry-point sealing work, preventing their return and prices.

Understand what
you’re seeing.

Squirrels are skilled climbers and chewers. In Toronto they often get into attics through gaps at the roof line, soffits and vents, and once inside they can damage insulation and wiring.

Identification & signs

  • Open holes and loose closures at the attic, roof line, soffits and vents invite squirrels in.
  • Signs include scratching or running sounds in the early morning and late afternoon, chewed openings and nesting material.
  • Overhanging tree branches give squirrels easy access to the roof.
  • If there are very young squirrels in a nest, they need to be able to leave before the opening is sealed.
  • Openings are best sealed with strong material such as 1.25 cm (½ in) hardware cloth or sheet metal.

Practical first steps.

Start with the conditions you can observe. If the activity continues or the pest is uncertain, describe the pattern when requesting an assessment.

  • Do not seal an opening while squirrels may still be inside.
  • Remove or move bird feeders, which draw squirrels to the house.
  • Trim back tree branches that overhang the roof.
  • Note the times you hear activity and photograph any chewed openings from the ground.

Squirrels: common questions.

How do you get squirrels out of the attic?

We use a one-way door or live trapping, depending on the animal and the situation. The price includes sealing one entry point; any additional entry points are quoted separately.

Why not just block the hole?

Squirrels trapped inside can chew a new way out, sometimes into the living space, and babies left behind will die. The opening should be sealed only once the squirrels have left.

What if there are babies?

Young squirrels need to leave, or be removed, before the opening is sealed. Removing babies, when they are present, is an extra $99–$225.

Can you take the squirrel somewhere else?

Ontario rules require a live-captured nuisance animal to be released within 1 km of where it was caught, within 24 hours. Sealing the entry point is what keeps it out.
